I also have something taking a bite out of my RED tomatoes. It is not turtles, unless turtles can climb the plant four feet off the ground. I am losing more fruit than I can take in.

It might be birds, and it might be rodents, but I don't know what.

They don't eat the entire fruit, just one quarter sized bite out of each and nearly every one.

White flies seem to respond well to insecticidal plant soap applied every 7 days or so.. You must act quickly as these things multiply very quickly and can do a lot of damage in a relatively short period of time.

I am not sure of the actual name of the soap but you should be able to find it at your local nursery or garden center. Also look on line for some homemade recipes for insecticidal plant soap.

My tomato crop was very promising this year, but I am now overrun with little white flies. Is there some way to save my tomatoes? The garden center told me to give in, but I really want to get a return on my investment.

Sounds like a turtle possibly.. the problem is that they will take a single bite then move on to the other tomatoes and take a bite out of every one they can reach. Are the bites low to the ground or are they also higher up on the vine?

Something is getting at my tomoattos as soon as they turn red. It is not an insect as it is clear that something is taking bigger bites than what an insect could do. Not sure if it is a bird or 4 legged criter. Right now I am trying to determine if they are nocturnal.
